It's great to ride your bike, hop on the bus, carpool, vanpool, or walk to work, but what if you have an emergency--you might be stranded! Don't worry. We'll give you a ride home--if you're a participant in the Traffic Solutions Emergency Ride Home Program.

If you use an alternative to driving alone at least once a week, you're eligible for the Traffic Solutions Emergency Ride Home Program. It's an incentive provided by your employer to encourage you to take a bike, bus, carpool, vanpool, or walk to work--without the fear of being stranded.

It Works Like This: You Call, They Come!

After your employer has registered for the Emergency Ride Home Program, you can sign-up by completing and returning the sign-up form. If you have an emergency and need a ride home from work, call a taxi or the car rental company of your choice. Pay for your ride home and submit the refund application and receipt to Traffic Solutions.

That's it. You're home free!

Who's Eligible?
  1. You are--if your employer has registered with the program; and
  2. If you carpool, vanpool, use transit, bicycle, or walk to work at least once a week; and
  3. If you have registered for the program and received your confirmation from us (please allow us at least seven working days); and

  4. If you use a commute alternative on the day the Emergency Ride Home is needed.
What's Covered?
Unplanned personal emergencies, such as:
  1. Personal or family illness;
  2. A family crisis;
  3. Your carpool or vanpool is unavailable for its usual schedule.

The Fine Print

The Emergency Ride Home Program can be used up to four times a year. Reimbursements cannot exceed $55 per use (any rental car charges incurred after 24 hours will not be reimbursed). Reimbursement requests without a receipt cannot be honored. Make sure you get a receipt from your transportation provider! Any inappropriate use of this program will be at the employee's expense and jeopardize future eligibility for the program.

The following situations are not covered by the Emergency Ride Home Program:

  1. Overtime (unexpected or planned);
  2. Personal errands;
  3. Pre-planned medical or dental appointments;
  4. Business-related travel;
  5. Injury on the job;
  6. Regional disasters, such as earthquake or flood.
